UW-Richland AthleticsAt UW-Richland you'll find exceptional opportunities as a freshman and sophomore for involvement and participation in sports. Join or cheer on UW-Richland teams, the Roadrunners. Three intercollegiate sports are offered at UW-Richland:
UW-Richland offers a wide array of health and wellness programming and activities for students, including an active intramural program, club soccer program, and open gym activities. In addition, the Roadrunners compete in the 13-school Wisconsin Collegiate Conference where competitive intercollegiate sports offered are women’s basketball, women's volleyball and men’s basketball. In addition to the facilities of the campus gymnasium, UW-Richland students also have a membership in the Symons Recreation Complex on campus. There you’ll find a 25-meter indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna, racquetball courts and a fitness center. A reasonable additional per-semester fee covers use of the weight training area. UW-Richland outdoor facilities include a recently updated tennis and basketball courts. A 16-station wellness trail and cross-country skiing course are also located on campus. Fun and involvement can be found as a player, scorekeeper, team manager or Roadrunner fan. Community people are welcome and encouraged to join students, faculty and staff to cheer on the teams. At UW-Richland, intramural sports provide other opportunities for fun and fitness. All UW-R students have special memberships in the on-campus fitness center·Symons Recreation Complex, with an indoor swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool, racquetball courts, weight room and more. Outdoor basketball and tennis courts, and a Wellness Trail offer additional recreation and fun. UW-Richland has a rich tradition in athletics. Members of the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference and the Wisconsin Junior College Athletic Association, Roadrunner teams compete against the 12 other UW Colleges and five Wisconsin Technical Colleges. Since the first year of competition in 1967 the program has won WCC and WJCAA championships in bowling, men's basketball, women's basketball, golf, cross country, and wrestling. The most recent championships were won by the soccer team in 1996, the women's volleyball team in 1997, and in 2003 the women's basketball team won the state WJCAA championship. Some 50 athletes have been named All WCC and another 30 were named All State. |
