Frizzell, Miehle named First Team All-State

The West Virginia Sports Writers Association announced its softball all-state team for Class AA Tuesday morning. Senior Josie Frizzell graced the first team unit for the fourth straight season. She finished the season with an astounding 246 strikeouts and just 38 walks. She posted an earned run average of 2.02 in 128 innings of work. Offensively, Frizzell hit .316 with 14 RBIs. For her career, Frizzell finished with 833 career strikeouts. Miehle, meanwhile, is just a junior and made her first appearance on the all-state squad. She got there thanks to a robust offensive campaign. Miehle hit .477 for the season, which led the team. She also drove in 38 runs, belted four home runs and had 17 doubles. The Knights' everyday second baseman, Miehle was also impressive with the glove. Juniors Erin Maxwell and Bella Rine were both recognized on the honorable mention listing.
